Top Ten Spongebob Episodes (Season 5- Forward)

I have recently been marathoning through a ton of new episodes of spongebob to see if there were any good ones anymore. I came across quite a few bad ones as expected, but I also found a few hidden gems that I actually enjoyed. So lets count down my top ten best Spongebob Squarepants episodes from season 5 and on. I didn't count season 4 because I actually like a lot of those episodes. Before we get to the list I want to say a couple of honorable mentions.

Now on to the top ten.

10. License to Milkshake- I actually found this episode rather enjoyable. Sure, it doesn't make that much sense but it was still entertaining and fun to watch. The ending of the episode wasn't very good but it was much better then the endings we usually get. General Frostymug was my favorite part of this episode. He was just a "cool" character, get it. Cool... nevermind.

9. Rollar Cowards- This episode was actually both funny and relatable to me because I used to feel the same way about rollar coasters when I was little. I eventually tried to go on one and I had a good time doing it so now I like rollar coasters. I really like how they were trying to delay having to get on the ride in some rather funny ways. The Fiery Fist O' Pain itself was fun to watch as well. This was just a fun episode.

8. Planet of the Jellyfish- This episode was creepy. Unlike other episodes it is creepy in a good way though. The whole episode is a reference to the invasion of the body snatchers and is just entertaining and interesting throughout. There are actually a few good jokes in this episode as well. Just a good parody that is weird yet fun.

7. Hello Bikini Bottom!- A post-movie musical episode of Spongebob that is actually good. When I went into this episode I didn't really know what to expect, but what I got was actually entertaining and had some good songs to listen to. The fact that Spongebob and Squidward actually decide to team up and start a band is pretty cool if you ask me. It also looks like Squidward finally figured out how to play his clarinet. Good for him.

6. Friend or Foe- A special from post movie Spongebob that is not just good, but gives us some actual back story and character development that is makes sense. I did not expect to find a special from this show that is actually, you know, special. They do a really good job to give us the reason why Mr. Krabs and Plankton are business rivals and also showed that they actually used to be friends once. There were a couple of parts that didn't make much sense, but as a whole it is a really good episode.

5. Back to the Past- This episode is hilarious. Yes, this is a newer episode of Spongebob that actually made me laugh. The ending was so random and funny that I couldn't help but chuckle at it. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy were good here and so was Manray. For some reason I always end up liking the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy episodes, even the ones in the newer seasons. I guess they are still fun to see because they aren't overused yet.

4. It's a Spongebob Christmas!- This was a great Christmas special. The animaiton, voice acting, and songs were all really well done here. It shows that even Spongebob can still make episodes that are not mean spirited. Spongebob is actually nice and charming for once in a very long time. I doubt we will have a special this good ever again. Judging from Spongebob, You're Fired! I am probably right.

3. Sand Castles in the Sand- This episode was awesome. It had a couple of funny jokes in it and Spongebob and Patrick were actually enjoyable here. But the best part about this episode was the fight scene while they were building the sand castles. It was just so creative and well animated that I couldn't help but love it. Writers, take notes from this episode.

2. Enchanted Tiki Dreams- After all of the abuse that Squidward has went through I think he deserves an episode like this. Just a day where he can relax and be himself. This was basically what he has been wanting ever since the series has began but something bad would happen to him instead. Not here though. This episode actually treats Squidward as an actual character instead of a punching bag. It's nice of Spongebob and Patrick to actually want him to enjoy himself for once. Again. Writers, Take Notes!

Now here is number 1.

Plankton's Pet- This is one of the best episodes of Spongebob that I have seen in a long time. It shows Plankton being beaten by Mr. Krabs again. This makes him feel bad so he goes out and gets himself a pet which is an amoeba named Spot. Spot is just a really cute and nice pet. Plankton deserves to be happy for all the stuff that he has been through especially if you count One Coarse Meal. Plankton looses Spot and goes to Spongebob so he can help him. Spongebob agrees and they go looking for Spot all across town until they find a pet store where they think he might be. They accidentally press a button that releases all of the pets and they are about to be attacked by them but luckily Spot is there to help them by turning into something to scare the other animals away just to save Plankton. It is just such a cute and nice episode. It is my favorite episode of the show after season 4. I know this show is going to continue to be bad for a long time. But maybe every once in a while we will get a diamond in the rough like this episode to make it at least partially worth it.
